El Afternoon Tea

Just before Christmas Mo, Mr Mo and son of Mo left a wet and windy Cornwall and headed to sunny Mallorca. Always on the lookout for new places to try for afternoon tea, Mo discovered the Castillo Hotel Son Vida, set in a thirteenth century castle on a hillside overlooking the Bay of Palma.

And what a spread it was – finger sandwiches of turkey and cranberry, smoked salmon and cream cheese on rye, egg mayonnaise and ham. Further temptations of macaroons, truffles covered in pink and white chocolate, pecan and toffee choux buns, fruit cheesecakes topped with crystallised berries, fruit tarts and scones with jam and cream. Just in case anyone might still be hungry creme brulee and caramel mousse were there to fill the gap.

Even the choice of tea itself was extensive. Mo chose Earl Grey served in an ingenious teapot warmed on a stand heated by (of course) a tealight.
